Top Ten Fantasy Books
Top Ten Tuesday
Top Ten Fantasy
Books.
I'm going to admit
now that these are books I've read recently because otherwise we'd be here all
day so without further ado . . .
1. The Wrath and the Dawn
by
Renée Ahdieh
This book guys!!
This book was beautiful. I literally have no idea why I loved this book as
much as I did. I mean it’s primarily a romance.
Let me have my one romance guys
ME liking a romance? What are
the odds? Honestly it would probably be higher on the
list if I was actually sure that it was a fantasy. I mean it had elements of a
magical fantasy but there weren’t any dragons so who can really tell.
2. Rangers Apprentice
By
John Flanagan
Well yeah I kind of did. But Fantasy is partly defined as having 'magical creatures' and there was that one giant bear thing in the first book? right?
Okay fine i'm cheating
But still I couldn’t leave it OFF. Sass and fighting and
wonderful characters. What’s not to love?
3. Graceling
By
Kristen Cashore
Basically a mythical kingdom where people are graced with special abilities
(you can tell these graced people by their special snowflake mismatched eyes)
like swimming or fighting etc. But Katsa the main character she’s graced with
Killing. It basically starts with a tiny ten year old Katsa straight up
murdering a dude. You know for . . .
kind of good reasons.
4. Skulduggery Pleasant
By
Derek Landy
No my Demon Road book still hasn’t shown up yet. Yes I am still
sore about it. But anyway Skulduggery Pleasant is everything a reader would
want. Vampires, ghosts, a walking talking Skeleton, magicians and one awesome
Heroine. At least once they stop calling her Stephanie and start calling her
Valkyrie. (There’s a thing about names in there okay don’t ask). Oh and also a
creeper who enjoys pulling out people’s hearts and other inner organs.
Yeah I really
didn’t see that one coming.
Still great though.
5. Artemis Fowl
By
Eon Colfer
Another one from a past Top Ten but again I couldn’t help myself.
Tech savvy fairies and twelve year old evil masterminds okay.
Though I still
don’t get the last book. Did anybody actually enjoy it? Like at all? s
6. Lockwood and Co.
By
Johnathan Stroud
This is kind of a new one for me but I adored it. Ghosts roaming
the streets and an actually reason for kids being the ones to go out and get
things done (FYI it’s because they’re the only ones who can really see the
ghosts).
I can’t even really pick out why I liked these books so much they were
just good.
7. Raven Boys
By
Maggie Steifvater
Even the cats want to read it guys
or they just want to Chainsaw
I finished it days ago and I still grin like a moron every time I think
of this book. Greatest surprise of the month I’m calling it now. There is
nothing better than fully expecting a book to suck and then finding that you
were completely wrong and it was BRILLIANT
8. Six of Crows
By
Leigh Bardugo
I don’t even care that labeling this one a fantasy is kind of a
stretch. Six of Crows was amazing and I will continue to shout about it until
the Crooked Kingdom comes out.
9. Dealing with Dragons
By
Patricia C. Wrede
This is an old one that literally nobody seems to know about?? Why?
It’s so good. Its written in a kind of fairytale like way except it’s got
dragons that like cherries jubilee, and kings who can pass as plumbers, and
Witches that make cider and have about thirty cats hanging around. Also
Cimorene, the main character, is wondrously independent and somehow both polite and bitingly sarcastic at the same time.
Basically I want to be her.
10.Harry Potter
By
J. K. Rowling
Again another one that I just could not stand to leave out. Harry
Potter encompassed my whole childhood (with short breaks for Star Wars and
Narnia) and is pretty much fully responsible for my love of reading today. I’m
not going to deny it I am and probably always will be one of those crazy Harry
Potter fans who never seem to move on. ‘Oh Sherlock season four isn’t out yet,
guess I’ll just read Harry Potter for the tenth time,’ or ‘ Welp that’s the end
of that series, should I read one I got from the library, nah lets read Harry Potter
again.’
Again thanks Broke and the Bookish for starting Top Ten Tuesday. If you guys like these things you should definitely check them out.
